According to Edmond's AutoObserver, GM took delivery of the first advanced lithium-ion batteries for the E-Flex operating system that will power the upcoming Volt. The volt is scheduled to be on the market by the end of 2010.

The batteries for the Volt will be supplied by LG Chem and A123Systems.
